The clock is ticking on the need to harness the power of data – A collective sum of the world’s data is calculated to grow from an estimated 59 ZB (one ZB or zettabyte is a trillion gigabytes) in 2020 to 175 ZB by 2025 according to a 2020 report by International Data Corporation (IDC).

This burgeoning volume of data and the need for data organisation has caused the rapid growth of the data analytics market. In 2019, the global data analytics market generated revenue of USD 23 billion; that is projected to reach a market value of USD 133 billion by 2026, growing at a 28.9% CAGR.

While North America and Europe form the largest markets for data analytics globally, the Asia-Pacific region is a close third. It reported USD 4.6 billion in 2019 and is likely to reach USD 31.8 billion by 2026 and register the highest CAGR of 32.3% according to Market Research Future.

Closer to home, Malaysia’s National IOT Strategic Roadmap goals highlight the need for more trained data professionals in Malaysia to manage, support and grow the analytics market.

The Covid-19 pandemic also provided an impetus for enterprises around the world to shift their business model and increase adoption of digitalisation.

All these factors point to the increasing demand for more data professionals.
